True American Heroism

One of these days I’ll actually write something of my own.  In the meantime, I heard the most inspiring Radio Lab show yesterday – in particular, about the amazing strength shown by California Congresswoman Barbara Lee a few days after 9/11 to vote her conscience.  I so admire anyone whose behavior challenges me to be the best person I can be.

yes, a vote like that takes a willingness to put principle above self interest. One of the things that attracted me to the Congressman I worked for (George Brown) was that he was one of the three in House of Reps who voted against the “Tonkin Bay Resolution” which authorized the Vietnam war … based on an alleged act of aggression against one of our ships in that area.

History repeats — do we learn?

    love, tm
